I had finish reading My Singapore Lover and Make Your Website Sell. I must say I gained lots of useful information from the myws book. Well. One day I gonna make my website sell too. Haha. Obviously it's not this personal blog of mine is going to gain more profit. I'm always hatching a plan! I really can't wait to graduate. I can't wait to get my first salary then I will start to do it slowly. If there's a will, there's a way.
Recently I read a book entitled The Facebook effect which is written by David Kirkpatrick. This book which I bought from the bbw sale really has this page-turning magic.It makes me want to read more about this social network. This is my first time reading a business and economics genre book. This writer did a great job because I didn't find this book difficult to read. I just find some financial terms like stocks and bits difficult to understand. Hmm...it's so difficult to start a business. It's not as easy as it seems. All these sucessful people have sleepless night. And I came to realise that Patience is the key to sucess. Couldn't agree more that the creator of fb is such a genius. When they invest in something, they need to take risk. My reaction after reading the book is...hmm business...that sounds interesting but very very complicated. Hah! Not really a business-minded person. For instance, how they deal with the servers problems, ads and etc. Wow....as a frequent user of fb, I just know how to use fb. Don't really how this things function and don't know how they came out with all these features like tagging and newsfeed.After I read it, I learned that it involves lots of process.So complicated. There are programmers who write codes for fb. There are many things I don't really understand about these selling stocks thingy. For instance, when a company is growing big, there are some other bigger companies want to buy ur company..They are people who want some share...or some percents. Like the phrase used by the author so frequently-Want a piece of it. Sounds so complicated. Hmm...all these business strategies.Selling and buying. Need more time to digest these theories. Such a competitive world. The author also mentioned about exhibitionism which means people on fb are searching for digital fame. Many people tend to fish for compliments. Well. For instance,skinny girl posts an ootd picture with caption like 'I'm so fat!' which I really can't stand. Haiya...why all these pretty girls do this to us. Sort of attention seeking.Hmm...but I enjoy to become their loyal audience, longing for more posts from them.What's wrong with me. HAHA. Haiz....feel so bad :( Ah ha....erm. I guess many people prone to do this whether consciously or subconsciously la. People start to monitor their fb to see pictures that they get tagged and what represent best to their friends. They will do it religiously. Okay, I admit it. I did that too when I was in high school.Very often. Seemed to care a lot about what others think of me. Now...ain't no time for that. Old already, Sleeping like a log is the only thing I want when I am in my hostel room.
Talking about hostel which means the end of my so-called holiday. Hoorey.For me...not that I don't like holiday. Long term holiday just make me to become like a sloth and gain weights! Let's shed these fats before cny wey.hahahaha. My resolution for 2014:Spend more time on something beneficial. Details of it. In my head. HEHE.2013 has been such a great year for me. Learned a lot. Wonderful.Memorable.To the creator of fb,you did a splendid work. I really get to know more about people through fb.

These are the books that I bought from the biggest booksale. I was so happy that I found Sidney Sheldon's novel! I went there on the 8th of December and there was hardly any elbow room there. Furthermore, it's hard to walk and hunt for the book that you want. This is because many people are walking with their hands full of boxes of books, n some strolling their luggage. I tripped on some people's boxes and luggages at times.I think the reason that I found my Sidney's book maybe is because of faith. Haha. It happened like this. When I was too tired walking around all the general fiction areas, I stopped and I went to romance area. Huuu...So I just tried my luck at the other section because I didnt' find his book at the general fiction area. I was thinking, " Hmm, maybe his books were sold out on the first day of the sale."
I was scanning through the titles one by one wearily."Hmm,maybe I should just give up and simply grab some titles.I can't let my parents to wait for me for hours." Out of a sudden, I saw something familiar! I saw a book with the author name start with S-i-d-n-e-y-S-h-e-l-d-o-n. Hahaha...I couldn't believe it. I FOUND it. One in a million. *Hey,don't get too excited!* There was a lady beside me and she was about to take it. *chanting-please don't take my book.please don't take my book.* Fortunately, she put it down. Without any hesitation, I grabbed the book and looked at the title of the book which was After The Darkness. *Hooray, I haven't read this yet.* Then, I continued to find other books. The booksale was bigger than the aftermath that I went last many months ago. I got one glowing sticker book for free because my purchase was above rm100.
Thanks to my parents for making this fruitful to come true. Not to forget my devoted father who drive us home safely. :)

| The hall was really big.There were many sections like Romance, Literature, Biography, Transport, Beauty, Self-help, Children's activity book, Young Adult, General fiction, Religion, Magazines, Picture Book, Reference, ICT, Business,Architect,Travel,Photography,Humour, Family and relationship and Christmas book. I just went to the sections that I like. Spending hours to find Sidney Sheldon, Nicholas Sparks and Yann Martel's books but I couldn't find them. I saw my friend purchased lots of these authors' books during the December's Sale. Okay....this was aftermath sale so I think all the nice books were sold out already. |

11/12/12 - We went to Seremban Terminal 2 to watch this movie. Actually I didn't really understand the story because the subtitle on the screen was white in colour and so blur...

Out of a sudden, a zebra jumped from the ship and landed on the lifeboat. Unfortunately, it had injured himself because one of its legs was broken already. Soon, an Orang-Utan came floating on an island of bananas and Pi rescued it. |

Then, a hyena came out from the tarpaulin. It ate the zebra and killed the orang-utan.

So these were the explainations from the internet. I found some of these explainations confused me.Since this film is based on the book. The book has more details because his girlfriend was not mention in the book and the lotus flower thing either...or I missed out???
1. "It is true that those we meet can change us, sometimes so profoundly that we are not the same afterwards, even unto our names."
So, it was about Pi's friends. His full name was actually Piscine Molitor Patel. However, his friends always mistaken his name and teased him. Some called him Pissing Patel because Piscine sounds like Pissing. Some thought that he was a sikh when they heard his name. They thought his name was P.Singh and they wondered why he wasn't wearing a turban. So, like my lecturer had mentioned before....Name does matter.Hmm. It caused him a lot of troubles every time he wanted to introduce himself in the classroom. Kinda pity him. He had such a good name actually because he was named after a swimming pool.
2."The sound would disappear, but the hurt would linger, like the smell of piss long after it has evaporated."
This showed that he felt really bad because of his friends teasing about his name. How awful it is when people try to make fun of your name. The name that was given by your parents..Imagine that. The people in the story just don't know the story behind his name so it's so bad for them to judge him like that. Pi didn't want people to laugh at him anymore so he introduced his new name when he changed to another school. Hence, Pi was named after the incident.
3. "It may not kill you but it will certainly injured you."
Pi's father told him not to underestimate the weak one (animal like insects..) even though we human beings think that we are the master on the earth.
4. "The most dangerous animal is man."
Agree the most. Sometimes human is cruel than animals. Animal won't attack us if we didn't disturb them.
5. "Animals like hyenas...orang-utans...Don't think they are harmless. Life will defend itself no matter how small it is."
I think the author foreshadow something here. Like how Pi defended himself on the roughest sea. Even though he was smaller size and a vegetarian compared to the big, fat chef he was able to defend himself and kill the chef.
6."I realised something else; The hyena was the reason those sailors had thrown me into the lifeboat. They weren't trying to save my life. That was the last of their concerns. They were using me as fodder. They were hopping that the hyena would attack me and that somehow I would get rid of it and make the boat safe for them, no matter if it cost me my life. Now I knew what they were pointing at so furiously just before the zebra appeared."
Now, I understand why they waited for him and they didn't want to save his parents when Pi insisted them to do so. No wonder they pointed the boat because they thought the hyena was going to attack Pi. They wanted to watch him die at the lifeboat. Lol...this is what we call "hai ren hai zi ji." Then, the rope that hang the lifeboat was torn and Pi was flushed out from the ship. So they are not able to on board because of their selfishness. He was the only survivor.
7. "Hyena-it was an adult male that looked to be about 140 pounds."
So this described the chef.Hmm.
8. "yip yip yip the hyena ran in circles going yip yip yip."
Trying to eat the zebra. So depressed or something like that. Hmm, indicate the chef's hot-tempered behaviour...?
9. "Orange juice (the orang-utan) encounter the hyena."
Pi's mother and the chef.
10. "The only reason I didn't stand up and beat it off the lifeboat with a stick was lack of strength and stick, not lack of heart."
No wonder...
11. "I kept myself busy. That was one key to my survival."
227 days in the ocean was very dreadful..luckily he kept himself occupied with doing all the stuffs like feeding Richard Parker, prayers, catching fishes...if not he will bored to death. lol.
12. "caught the turtle, jammed the knife to the turtle's head and drank its blood."
Err...maybe we will feel disgusted by his action but Pi said that he couldn't consume sea water. Furthermore, the unpredictable weather made it difficult for him to collect rain water. So this was one of the solutions to get the water source and quench his thirst.
13. "The landscape was covered in meerkats.....The island was carnivous."
14. "Richard Parker at the edge of the jungle, stop but just disappear without looking back at Pi and bid farewell."
Pi was very sad because after all the hardships they had gone through. Richard Parker still didn't treat him as a friend. Maybe his father was right..animal and human cannot be friends...hmmm. He wept because Richard Parker didn't look back or did anything. It just went like that. Pi just wanted to conclude their relationship.
This part in the movie was really sad...I really wish the tiger would turn its back or maybe just roar something like that but it didn't. It stopped there for quite a long time lo...this beast lol. Then after I watched the movie, I found that the tiger was actually Pi's inner heart.... (-..-)
15. "I wish I had said ,"Richard Parker, it's over." "

17. The cook told Pi and his mother he needed to cut the Chinese sailor's wounded leg in order to save his life. Actually the chef was very selfish, he cheated them. He just wanted to use it as bait because their lifeboat was running out of food already...
18. Pi only jotted down the dates when the shipwreck occured and after he was rescued. July 2nd 1977 and February 14th 1978. In between he did write diary but he just didn't want to write the date. He said time makes us weak? something like that...can't remember what he said. Maybe it feels like dying if we know the day.
19. "Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals?"
Both of the officers claimed that the story with animals is the better story.
Pi replied,"Thank you. And so it goes with God."
Maybe the writer wants to convey the message that with god nothing is impossible. Just like the first story many people will just think it is impossible for an Orang Utan came floating on the bananas,the carnivorous trees, and Pi could survive for so many days with a tiger on the lifeboat. It's miracle. :) Lol dunno..just guessing. I believe the first story. ^.^ So complicated but it's really nice.

I just received the parcel this afternoon. I'm satisfied with the quality of the books and their services. They even made a phone call before the ship their parcel. Haha...I'm so happy.This is because my mum allows me to have my first "online shopping" experience but with one condition---Never buy clothes! That's why I buy these books. Lol. Since I was in secondary school, I wanted to buy things from the internet. However, my mum doesn't allow me to do so because she's afraid of many things like get cheated and finish all my father's savings. Therefore, I don't even dare to mention "online shopping". But now I have my own bank account and I can spend my money on anything I want....*big grin. Owh, all the things are so alluring. Title: Nothing Last ForeverTwo months ago, Thevika gave me this book to read. At first I was like what??? The book was so thick and the cover looked boring. However, I was wrong. Never judge a book by its cover! After reading this book, I felt so sad but I didn't cry like Thevika la. Haha. Sidney is such a good writer. He can write so well. The setting of the story was mostly at the hospital and I thought it would be very boring but the writer's writing made me felt as if I was in the OnCall36 hours scene. Haha. The story revolved around the three characters who named Kate Hunter, Betty Lou Taft and Paige Taylor. Three of them were female doctors and they lived together in a shared apartment. At first their friendship was not so good because they just knew each other. Haha...the scene where the three of them had different perceptions towards each other were really funny.
Kate Hunter was a black woman and she was raped by her stepfather when she was very young.Then she ran away from her house and stayed at her aunt's house. At her aunt's house, her aunt was really good and she inculcate good reading habit to Kate. What I remembered was when her aunt said "Read these..You're gonna be successful one day." That was really touching! Yeah, she indeed became a black doctor and she made a vow that she won't let a man to touch her again. However there was this stupid guy Ken made her to change her mind. Why????? I hate this guy and you know what ...the writer made me read for so many pages just because I wanted to know the ending. This is because I wonder when he is going to face the music, when he is going to die!!! He bet his friends five thousand dollars that he could have sex with Kate. All the people already know that Kate is not interested in guy. This Ken of course he had tried so many times to con Kate but didn't success because Kate already heard about the bet from her friend. Oh my god! Kate thought she was clever and she tried to go out with him just wanted to make a fool out of him. She played with the fire and in the end she was the one who needed to bear with the consequences. I thought that stupid Ken will die, I thought Kate will ruin the stupid Ken's marriage,I thought.. I thought...You see the writer made my life miserable. Haha. I kept on guessing the ending. You need to read the book if you want to know the ending of that stupid guy and Kate.
There was another character that I dislike in this story. She was Betty and her nickname was Honey. I was like duh...omg. She could graduate not because of her flying colours result but having sex with the teacher. Omg..she learned all the things from karma sutra and she became very experienced. After that, many guys wanted her just because she was an "expert". Haiz...why got this kind of people.
Paige Taylor was a very nice character but I didn't really focus on her part. Haha because it's quite boring. I just quickly flipped through her part just because I wanted to know more about the progress of Honey and Kate. However, Paige had some sad stories too.The writer made me that doctor's life is so hectic. You can feel the built up tension when you read it...first time I read a book until 4 a.m because it's really well-written and interesting.
This is my first time doing a book review because I have nothing to do in my hostel room..Haha. Nola...just want to have a niche blog. I have found my new niche. :)
