Tips to improve your eyesight

January 06, 2015

Recently I just went to check my eyes because I had been wearing my full-frame spectacles for almost two years. So, it's time to check my eyesight and change my glasses. Even though it costed me a bomb to buy a new spectacles, I had to purchase a new one because I couldn't see very well at night. Months ago I started to feel that my eyesight was getting worse, I couldn't see clearly at night and the vision appears blurry. During the year end holiday I just had the time to have my eye examination. I don't have 20/20 since I was in standard six. Last time my eyesight was pretty good. However, I was so dumb back then. I wanted to wear spectacles because I thought it would look cool on me. Ahahaha. It was indeed a fatal decision when I cheated my mum that I could not see clearly and asked her to bring me to have eye examination. Well. At first she was so furious and told me that my eyesight was perfect. She told me not to get cheated by the optician. She said once you wear it, you had to wear it forever. Yes. I should listen to my mum. It's too late to regret now. Hahaha.

So I just want to share with you my conversation with the optician.
O: "Girl, your eyesight is getting better every year. What's your secret?"
M: " Haha, really? I thought it was getting worse because I didn't feel comfortable wearing the specs."
O: " Yes. It's getting better that is why you feel blurry wearing the specs."
M: "Hmm." *nod my head and smile sheepishly*
O: " Girl, did you take any supplements for your eyes?"
M: " Huh? No o...I also don't know why? Haha. Maybe I seldom wear spectacles?" *still puzzled by her questions*
O: " You really didn't eat any supplements?"
M: "Really no...I don't really like to wear specs, I seldom wear it."
O: " You like to eat vegetables? "
M: " Haha, yes. A lot. Why? Haha?"
O: " Maybe that is one of the reasons"
M: " Haha, really ah? I don't know o,I just seldom wear my specs."*feeling like scratching my head hahahah*

The following tips may help to improve your eyesight.

Tip 1-Don't always wear spectacles
Optician will always ask you to wear your specs regularly. I am myopic- nearsighted. In my opinion, I don't really like to wear specs, I only wear it to attend classes or when I need to drive. Most of  the time, I don't wear specs. Even though it will be blurry, I already get used to it. You will slowly get used to it too. Sometimes when I go out and bump into my friends. I can recognise them but I just can't see their face clearly from a distance. If it's in a room, I can see things clearly. Sometimes I just pity my brother because his eyesight is so bad that he needs to wear specs when he takes his shower. My piece of advice is do not rely too much on glassess...

My eyesight changes from -2.75 (2013 June) to -2.5 (2014 Dec) gradually. :)

I seldom wear contact lens too. I don't have problem to put in the lens but  it's very hard for me to remove the lens because my eyes are very small. :D It's like poking my eyes every time I try to remove them. It's very scary when I try to pinch the lens, I am so afraid that my nails will hurt the cornea. For 'safety' purpose, I just wear glasses.

Tip 2- Eat lots of vegetables
I like to eat vegetables. Cabbage, cucumber and carrot are my all-time favourite. These are the cheapest vegetables that I can get from the mall. Apart from that I can't live without soup.

Dishes
Breakfast-Fried rice with diced carrots and some cabbages.
Lunch-Carrot soup with some garlic or sliced onions.
Dinner-Fried carrots with sambal gravy
That is actually my menu for the previous month because I want to save money. Lol..........actually I didn't have money to buy expensive food. I spent too much on food since I moved out from my hostel. You don't really have to follow the menu.Sometimes I just want to puke because I eat too much cucumber in a day. :(  There's once I ate carrots for a week and I felt like dying hahahaha.
I like to eat bitter gourd too but it's quite expensive so I seldom buy. *Actually I am lazy to cook la..haha*

Soup
Chinese corn soup is always my favourite. It's very easy to prepare and most importantly the ingredients are affordable. You can get two corns per packet for RM 2.50++.  It's very nutritious.
You may google the recipe. :)

Tip 3- Pinhole glasses

Another tip is you can try to wear pinhole glasses. I bought it at Daiso for only RM5. I normally used it to watch TV. I read some reviews saying that it doesn't work and not good for the eyes. For me, I can't say it is 100% effective to improve my eyesight but it certainly helps to train my eyes. You have nothing to lose. Just try it. I just wear it for twenty minutes per day. Sometimes I just wear it once a week because err.. I am lazy. Haha.

In conclusion, please take care of your eyes-the window to your beautiful souls.
