SINGAPORE FOOTPRINTS HOSTEL

February 10, 2017

Hello guys, I went to Singapore again. I went there for the new year countdown, MacRitchie Treetop walk *didn't manage to go there* and the famous Michelin-Starred Soya Sauce Chicken. I will blog about these later.

1. How to book
I booked this hostel 2 weeks before my arrival. As usual I booked my accommodation from this website. The main reason that I wanted to book this hostel because it was located very near to the MRT station. It was the cheapest hostel that I could get during that peak season because many people countdown there and the other nice hostels were fully booked.

2. How to go to the hostel
From Rochor MRT station you just take the exit written 'Perak Rd'. Take the elevator and once you reach the street just turn right and walk straight. The hostel is very near. It just took us less than 2 minutes to reach there.

Address:
25A Perak Rd, Singapore 208136                                         Phone no: +65 6295 5134

3. Price
SGD 19 per night. I stayed at a 6 beds female dorm.

4. What I really like about the hostel

  • Reception: They have 24 hours reception which is very nice. We arrived 3 a.m. early in the morning at Singapore. However the check-in time for the hostel was at 2 p.m. It was really late and we were very tired and wanted to find a place to rest. I sent an email and a message to their Facebook to ask them whether we could just stay their common room and leave our luggage their while waiting for the guests to check out. Surprisingly, they were very responsive. After we reached Singapore, we just went to Mustafa Shopping Centre first.*The shopping mall that operates 24hours* Then we walked from Mustafa Centre to the hostel. Even though we could not check in but they still allow us in their common area.

  • Staffs: During my stay I only saw one staff at the hostel. A middle age guy sitting at the counter.

  • Washroom:They have separate washroom for both gender which is good. However, the female bathroom was quite dirty because there were kids staying at this hostel. I saw some puke and * early in the morning. It was quite smelly. Luckily they cleaned it. In the evening everything was clean again.  The female bathroom has 4 shower rooms and 2 toilets. Shower cream was not provided. There were two hairdryers attached near the sink and free for use. Hot shower was available.

  • Room: The room was clean and nice. The good thing was the security lockers were inside each dorm. The room has an air conditioner and a small wall-mounted fan. However, we could only switch the air conditioner on after 7 p.m. Linen and bed sheet were provided. Each bed had a reading light and a charging port.

  • Common Area: The common area was small.

  • Atmosphere: I doesn't feel like I was staying in a hostel. The people who stayed there were mostly families.

  • Food: The free breakfast was okay. The usual bread and toast, jam, coffee, and tea. However, this hostel provided cereals and milk too.

  • Luggage Service: The hostel did not have a room for the luggage storage. We just simply put our backpacks on the floor near the common area and the entrance to the dorm rooms. However their luggage service was free of charge.

  • Location: It was located near the  Rochor MRT Station, Bugis MRT Station, Little India MRT Station. The nearest MRT station was Rochor. All these MRT stations are within walking distance only.

Tips:
  • Just book a female dorm.

Right after you came out from the Rochor MRT Station took the exit 'Perak Rd'. Turn right and walk straight. The hostel was the building painted in white and green colour. The signage of the hostel was very big. So it's really easy to find after you came out from the MRT station.

Receipt. We had to return the receipt for the deposit. I almost threw it away. LOL.

We were given this tag too. Write your name on the tag  and tie it at your bed. So we get to choose the bed we want. I choose bottom bunk. I actually wanted to keep the tag as my souvenir. Unfortunately, we had to bring the linen and the tag to the counter when we check out.

Security lockers were inside the room so it was very convenient for us to store our things.

So this was how my room looked like. The room for my one night's stay at Singapore. My roommates were female backpackers from Germany, Thailand and  Korea.

Oh! Each bed also had an attached rack too. It was small but it's good to put small things like water bottle, watch and other stuffs.

The view from my room. The hostel was located at Little India area. So you can find many Indian food here.

The walkway.

Washing machines.
