THE INN CROWD BACKPACKERS HOSTEL
February 28, 2016
How to book:
We booked this hostel 6 months before our arrival. As usual we booked our accommodation from this website. The main reason that we wanted to book this hostel because of their scooter tour! After viewing all the reviews from the website, we were really excited to know that the scooter tour was free. Without any hesitations, we decided to choose a standard 8 bed female dorm and we booked two bunk beds. The price was slightly expensive if we stayed in a female dorm compared to a mixed dorm. If you're comfortable staying with guys in a mixed dorm, you can book the mixed dorm.
Check the reviews of the hostel here.
How to go to the hostel:
Address:
The Inncrowd backpackers,
73 Dunlop Street, Singapore 209041. Phone no: (65) 62969169
From Golden Mile complex, we took a cab to the hostel. It costed us SGD 5.30.
The hostel was located more than 10 minute's walk from both Bugis and Little India Mrt stations. So please use the Rochor station :) Less than 2 minutes.
What I really like about the hostel:
- 24 hours reception.
- Helpful staff! During our stay, Ping was very kind in telling us all the interesting places. Most importantly, she told us the nearest MRT station to the hostel so we didn't need to walk so far.
- Toilet was really clean.
- Nice and spacious shower rooms.
- Most of the guests were Europeans. Some asians only.
- The room was comfortable and air-conditioned.
- It's very near to Bugis Street and Little India. Walking distance only.
- It was located near the Bugis Mrt Station, Little India Mrt Station and Rochor MRT station (a newly opened station- downton line).
- Breakfast was provided daily. Coffee, tea, bread, and 2 boiled eggs for each guests.
- Hostel key deposit SGD10.
- Luggage service was provided. SGD 4.

Tips:
- Warm at day, very cold at night.
- Blanket was not thick enough. :( Bring your jacket.
- Choose Rochor MRT station to reach the hostel or go to other places. Fastest route. Don't use Bugis MRT station and Little India station.
- No lamps and power socket for each bunk beds but there are plenty of points available to charge your phones from the multi plug.
- Please bring your tooth brush, tooth paste, shower gel, shampoo and towel or else you have to buy from them.
- Minimum age requirement of 17 years to stay there.
- Female solo backpacker has to be careful because the streets were very dark at night and it was located near little India. It was fine to walk alone during daytime but it is advisable to go back early at night. Singapore is a very safe country but just a kind reminder for solo backpacker. :)
This was how the hostel looked like. There was a convenience store beside it.

The common area was a great place to mingle with other backpackers. Nice atmosphere. One evening when my friend and I were having our dinner. The other backpackers were watching the "Friends" tv series. I wished I could join them but hmm..kinda awkward...so I just changed my mind. Haha.
The hostel's toilet was clean. The shower room had ample space to hang my clothes and towels. Unfortunately, they didn't provide shower gel and shampoo. I was satisfied with the toilet! Many shower rooms and there was 4 toilets. So, no worries. There's only one washroom in this hostel and it's a unisex washroom.
This was our female dorm. The photo was blurry and dim because I took this photo early in the morning. The other travelers were still sleeping soundly. Can you see their backpacks? Looked so heavy. It was common for them to carry these backpacks. The bigger their backpacks, the longer duration of their 'wonderlust'. This was my first time staying in a female dorm with other backpackers. I felt so great that I got the opportunity to meet with these experienced backpackers. Our roommates were from Iceland, Germany, and Canada. As I mentioned earlier, our main purpose to stay in this hostel because we wanted to join their scooter tour. However, the tour was canceled because of the bad weather. It was indeed my pleasure to hear many interesting stories from the fellow backpackers in the hostel. The German backpacker showed us the lamp that she purchased from Africa. The lamp looked like an oil lamp but it was a rechargeable lamp. How awesome! The second night was rather interesting. We had a nice chat with a Japanese guy named Shota. I was very into J-pop so I talked a lot about KPP. Then, we played Wii together. The third day of our stay we met a Canadian backpacker @pomedlileah. She is a very friendly girl. She helped me to take out my simcard. I felt excited when I found out that she wrote travel journal. So I showed her some interesting midoritravelernotebooks. I really enjoyed our conversation. I will definitely put Saskatoon on my travel list if I get a chance to travel to Canada in the future.
My friend was playing Wii with the Japanese guy.
Finally, let me show you their famous scooter tour!

Looked like they're having a great time! Too bad it was rainy seasons during our stay. The first tour was canceled and they changed it to the next day. The receptionist apologized to us and she asked us to join the scooter tour on the next day. However, it was drizzling the next evening too. So we didn't managed to join it for the second time. So unlucky! Haha. Do check the weather forecast for the whole week before you sign up for the tour.
