Happy Independence Day to Malaysia~
Thank God that today is holiday. Finally I have time to blog. Today I would like to share my travel expenses to Hatyai, Thailand. I love budget trips and I have the habit of tracking all my $$$. Sometimes it's not fun for being so calculative.Well. Some people might be surprised and uttered something like..'Seriously..you're on a vacay and you keep on thinking about money?' It is all depends on individuals. This is my way of travelling. It doesn't spoil the fun at all when I jot down all the things. Basically, I will just jot down all these little details in my travel journal. And I always like to flip through these small notes for future references.
1. Transportation
Public transport
- Bus return tickets from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan = RM132.70
- Tuk tuk to Greenway night market = 25THB
- Tuk tuk to Central Festival = 30THB
- Tuk tuk back to Lee Garden = 30THB
- Tuk Tuk from Chok Dee DimSum to Hatyai Youth Hostel and to the bus station = 30THB (*great deal from a nice tuk tuk driver hehe. One of the perks of speaking broken Thai language)
2. Accomodations
2 nights' stay at Hatyai Youth Hostel = RM11.70 deposit + 553 THB
3. Meals
- McDonald matcha Mc Flurry = 25THB
- McDonald Pie = 43THB
- Junk food and instant noodles from 7-eleven = 30THB
- Tesco Lotus junk food haul = 275THB
- Greenway night market Pad Thai = 45THB
- ASEAN night market Pad Thai = 45THB
- Greenway night market Thai iced tea = 30THB
- Chok Dee Dimsum = 98THB
4. Sight-seeing and Activities
- Thai massage without oil for one hour = 200THB
- Chang Puak Camp Elephant riding package = 500THB
- Souvenirs - Photo + Photo frame from Chang Puak Elephant riding = 200THB
- Hatyai One day tour (with a local cab driver) = 500THB
5. Shopping
- sports bra = 250THB
- cheap tops x 2 = 400THB
6. Other expenses
- Roaming for 2 days = RM20
*We were lost so I gotta subscribe to internet roaming to find our way back to our hostel. Actually we can cut down on this cost if we had done enough 'homework' for our trip. And....the easiest and cheapest way is to ask the local to show us the way. However, most of them can barely understand, read and speak in English. It's better to surf the internet if you are going for a self-guided tour.*
I forgot to jot down some of the meals that I had eaten. Haha. Too hungry. We can actually save more if we had our breakfast at the hostel. However, we found out that Hatyai food is cheap so we didn't have our breakfast at the hostel at all. Lol. All of us were too tired to wake up early to have breakfast.
7.Total Expenses
Some expenses were jotted down in MYR. So I will count the THB first and convert them to MYR. Then I will sum up all the expenses.
Transportation = 115 THB
Accomodations = 553 THB
Meals = 591 THB
Sight-seeing and activities = 1400 THB
----------------------------------------------------------
2659 THB = RM312.56
----------------------------------------------------------
RM312.56 + Rm132.70 + RM11.70 + RM20 = RM 476.96
Total money spent on 4D2N's trip at Hatyai = RM476.96 /person.
I am surprised when I see the total money spent on this trip. Lol. I will try to plan for more budget trips in the future. These are my targets.
- Budget trip to Taiwan for less than RM2000 / RM1500
- Budget trip to Cambodia for less than RM1500
- Budget trip to Sydney for less than RM3000
- Budget trip to Japan for less than RM4000 *still figure out ways to save money to Tokyo!*
- Budget trip to Indonesia for less than RM1000
- Budget trip to Singapore for less than RM1000 *nice place for solo backpacker*
- Budget trip to Vietnam for less than RM2000 *depends on the cities..Ho Chi Minh can less than RM1000, Hanoi's trip will cost more :( *
Stay tuned.
